Express your love over a romantic dinner at The Wharf this Valentine's Day

A dozen roses, a heart-shaped box of chocolates, an intimate, hand-written love poem and a romantic candlelit dinner for two. It is an annual ritual for couples caught up in the giddy excitement of a new or ongoing romance at this time of the year. And it’s no different at The Wharf, as local restaurants vie to host the most romantic dining in the Cayman Islands this Valentine’s Day.

The Wharf, the premier waterfront restaurant in Grand Cayman, offers Valentine’s Day diners a choice of venues for their romantic evening, including indoor and outdoor dining as well as intimate cabana dining-à-deux.

The waterfront deck offers not only beach and sunset views, but also adds to the romance with the relaxing murmur of ocean waves around you and the gentle Caribbean breeze. Every table promises the best dinner in the Cayman Islands with a perfect view of the ocean, the setting sun, and the picturesque coastline.

Inside, the recently refurbished indoor bar and adjacent indoor dining room is air-conditioned, offers ocean views, and quiet intimacy is guaranteed by well-spaced tables and special acoustic buffers in the ceiling.

For hard-core romantics wanting to make that very special statement on Valentine’s Day, The Wharf can provide the most romantic dinner-à-deux in your exclusively set up cabana on the white sand beach. The gentle sound of the waves, the breeze, the Instagram-perfect table setting, and the twinkling starlight add to the unforgettable gourmet meal experience.

When loved-up diners manage to tear themselves away from staring deep into each other’s eyes, they will see the menu created by Executive Chef Christian Reiter as his international team brings many new and exciting culinary specialties to The Wharf Restaurant, offering some spectacular dishes on the Island.

An elegant and romantic dinner could start with a chilled seafood medley of lobster, shrimp, mussels and crab in a piquant cocktail sauce accompanied by a bottle of something sparkling and romantic. A crisp and bubbly Bollinger, perhaps. The Wharf’s extensive wine list has everything from affordable New World reds and whites by the glass, to vintage old world Chardonnay, Bordeaux and Burgundy rarities for aficionados and those determined to impress their lucky date.

As for the main course, The Wharf offers a wide range of gourmet local and international dishes, all prepared in a signature fashion with a Caribbean flair.

Chef Reiter’s modern and refined menu has embraced current seasonal produce to deliver the best and freshest food in the Cayman Islands. Local dishes on the menu include fresh lobster, Cayman turtle steak and The Wharf’s signature dish, Basil and Pistachio Nut-Crusted Sea Bass.

For those who prefer turf to surf, The Wharf offers the very best Australian certified Black Angus beef, as well as a traditional rack of lamb or New York steak.

For dessert, why not enjoy a rich (and romantic) shared dish like a vanilla crème brûlée, with fresh berries and almond crisp or Cayman lime pie topped with meringue. Then finish with another look through one of the most extensive Cayman Islands wine lists for the perfect post-prandial liqueur – a scotch, rum, bourbon or Cognac perhaps, from the carefully curated menu of after-dinner drinks.

A unique feature of dining at The Wharf is the resident school of Indo-Pacific tarpon in the shallow water surrounding one of the best restaurants in the Cayman Islands. These impressive fish (they can grow to over 200lb)  gather in large numbers every evening and are habituated to human feeding. Tarpon feeding at The Wharf takes place at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Where else can you do this when you dine in the Cayman Islands? It is certainly an unusual Valentine’s Day activity, but one that is sure to bring back happy memories for years to come.

The Wharf is open for dinner every night, from 5 pm to 10 pm. Early booking is strongly recommended. This day does call for a special arrangement and seating location. Book your romantic Valentine’s Day dinner today.
